Because the College Essay is such an important part of each student’s application, Proofreading the College Essay is essential.  At Write Start Prep, our Proofreading goes beyond just grammar to include a holistic assessment and suggestions for revision.

In Proofreading, our expert editors consider how the essay will sound to colleges and how complete a picture of the student it presents (by comparing it with the student’s List of High School Activities).  We suggest ways to improve by condensing or developing paragraphs on specific experiences or interests.  Finally, we examine the essay’s structure, grammar, transitions, and word choice, and provide suggestions to improve the essay’s readability and narrative flow.  If a College Essay needs a great deal of revision, we will make a recommendation for Essay Coaching and provide an estimate of how much time it would take to finish.

HOW LONG DOES PROOFREADING TAKE?

We can proofread College Essays on the same day if necessary. But the day before college deadlines tends to be a busy time, so students should try to allow 2-3 days if possible.  To get started, just email your essays, or fill out our contact form.

WHAT IF I NEED MORE HELP?

If a College Essay needs a great deal of revision, we will make a recommendation for Essay Coaching and provide an estimate of how much time it would take to finish.  If your deadline is 3 days away or less, we offer Last-Minute Essay Coaching.
